His early coinage proves that much, repeating the style and imagery of imperial issues (though formally retaining the modest princely title, as evidenced in the "5-line" (here) or the "enthroned ruler" in full imperial regalia types. Interestingly, however, for various political reasons, both internal and beyond, his later issues - both in Cyrillic and Latin (Serbian and Italian) - show a deliberate scaling back of the iconography in alignment with his actual title.
