Budget version of this interesting early imperial type - clipped, though not countermarked - probably circulated in the contemporaneous Bulgarian state, in the Dobrudja (Danube delta) area. Notable for the fact (not really evidenced on this specimen) that this is the unique type the references Dusan, in Latin, as the "King of Rascia [Serbia], emperor of the Romaion [Byzantines - Romans]".
