While veritable spirituality reflected in copious church-building eventually landed Milutin among cononized Orthodox Christian saints, this classic early "banner" dinar modelled after the Venetinan grosso (an imitation, but certainly - given original legends - not a forgery thereof) earned him another immortal spot, as the mischievous "Rascian king" in the Paradise of Dante's Divine Comedy.
