The relatively short-lived production of the "conjoined busts" type in certain colonial mints during the 27-month joint reign of the two Severan brothers became even smaller following Caracalla's abominable 212 AD act of fratricide: in an attempt to erase all memory of the slain co-emperor, many of these circulating specimens had the effigy of Geta literally erased - although this one escaped that fate.
