Fausta was the daughter of Maximianus that married Constantine around the time of his accession in 307. She was mother of the three caesars that were to succede their great father, and this family relationship is advertised on this reverse for the elder two (born 316/7). However, her role in the elimination of stepson Crispus, having accused him - falsely, as it became obvious all too late to his father - of treason, earned her an ignominious end, as she was boiled to death in 326 AD.
