There is some inconsistency as as to the interpretation of the obverse/reverse orientation for Apollonian fractions, the anchor side considered obverse (with facing head reverse) for drachms and for some reason the opposite for diobols. The present specimen displays an attractive facing portrait (presumably no longer Gorgon, but now Apollo - in any event, downright pleasing compared to the wild Medusa renditions) and a scarce (for silver) magistrate indicator.
