The coinage of Mende, a town on the western side of the Macedonian Chalkidiki penninsula, is scarce and attractive. The whole series is heavily based on the Dionysiac cult, with various aspects of it reflected on different issues. An affordable early example with one of Dionysos' companion animals, whose representation here is subtle, but visible.
