Miniature masterpiece of ancient Greek engraving art. Apart from the stated attribution that appears to best match this type, it also has the same devices, weight and closely matching style to tetartemoria of Hekatomnos, satrap of Caria (395-377 BC), referenced as Kayhan 867 and CNG Helsinki 848 ("uncertain" mint) - a specimen of which sold at CNG 50 in 1999 (lot 859) for a total of $385. However, there is no visible trace here of the characteristic for that issue legend "E- K(A)" below the facing head, despite the good strike and centered flan, making that a more distant possibility.
