Perseus was the last Macedonian king, unable to stem the tide following the crushing defeat by the Romans against his father in 197 BC at Kynoskephalai, and leading to his own demise at the battle of Pydna (168 BC). Scarcer mythological personage on the obverse (with an interesting winged helmet resembling a petasos) - of the eponymous hero that beat Medusa.
