A better specimen of this interesting though crude imitation of an archaic hemidrachm type, usually attributed to Parion. The Gorgon image here, as is typical, is only partially formed - though still with a stern, if not exactly terrifying, look. These imitative types were once attributed to the Tectosages of Galatia, but recent hoard evidence no points to the 5th c. BC Danubian Celts as the issuers.
