A very rare issue and overall theme. Excellent style in rendering the struggle between hero and beast, on an evenly patinated coin with good detail and full legends. Different grappling position from that shown in Mushmov, here Herakles grabbing the bull's muzzle and horn and jerking its head back. Same dies and general state of preservation as the ex-David Simpson collection specimen sold at Triton V (lot 1696), for a total of $460.
