The overthrow of Demetrios "the Besieger of cities" by Lysimachos and Pyrrhos (the one credited with the infamous Pyrrhic victories, although here in a different context) created a decade of anarchy interregnum on the Macedonian throne, and the coinage reflected this also. Most issues were anonymous - like this one - but they display two characteristic symbols of the martial Macedonian state: their shield and helmet.
