The cast bronzes of the Cherson mint in the Crimea are somewhat of a mystery, as their design, production method and denomination have always appeared to be outside the mainstream Byzantine monetary system. A scarcer decent example of Basil's piece from this series. For a ruler of such stature and lengthy a reign, Basil's bronzes are generally not that plentiful.
